Prom Boutique Event 2019

The Clothing Bank Etc. successfully hosted their 5th prom event at the end of March through April 2019.  High school Young ladies and men came to the “Prom Boutique” from various towns in CT to select a prom gown or tux, and all the accessories at no cost.  The purpose of this event was to help alleviate some of the expenses involved in going to their high school prom. We helped to make memories that will be cherished by those attending this special event in their lives.

Mary Kay beauty consultants, Megan Ross, Amy Jones, and Teallia Gorman donated their time and talents to teach the young ladies how to choose and put on their makeup.  We provided a variety of makeup for the young ladies to take home at no charge.

Heather Mathiau, owner of Wild Flowers in Tolland, donated vouchers for five free corsages and five boutonnieres to be made up in their choice of colors.

Scott Zahner, owner of Zahner’s Fine Apparel in Vernon, donated several tuxes and dress shoes to our Prom Boutique. He also donated vouchers for two free tux rentals from his store.

St Peter’s Episcopal Church in S.W. and Men’s Wearhouse collaborated and provided three free tux rentals from Men’s Wear house.

I want to thank the people of our community, schools, and organizations from all over who donated to our Prom event. Everyone was excited as we were to help the young ladies and men to be able to attend their prom dream event.  Seeing the excitement on their faces and knowing that they had a good time in our Boutique made this event special to us. Their enthusiasm and kind words showed us just how much they appreciated it.  We look forward to hosting the Prom Boutique event again in April of 2020.

We are always collecting donations of gowns, tuxes, dress shoes, jewelry, evening purses, new makeup, etc. throughout the year.

The Clothing Bank Etc. has a wonderful group of volunteers.  With their generous spirit, passion, creative talents and ambition, it allows us to extend ourselves to do more to help our community.  We will be holding a free back pack and school supplies give away in August and will be setting up “The Christmas Corner” again in November. Everything we give out during our events is at no cost. We take donations year round for Items related to all our seasonal events.

Without the kind donations and the wonderful support from the various communities and organizations, none of these events would be possible.

A big thank you to everyone!
