Scrooge Scramble
Every year on Christmas morning approximately 200+ runners take time out from their holiday celebrations to participate in the Scrooge Scramble to raise funds for Cornerstone. This 5k race has been taking place for over 25 years and is organized by several members of the Silk City Striders.
There is a fee to enter the race, however, donations for Cornerstone are accepted in lieu of the fee.
You will usually find an interesting array of runners with a variety of costumes. Dogs are welcome too. It is always a heartwarming way to spend Christmas morning. Refreshments and fellowship at the Cornerstone Youth/Community Center follow the race.
Thank you to Janit Romayko who helps organize, Ken Platt who also helps organize and comes with his timing equipment, Barry Ralston of Quality Name Plate in East Glastonbury who donates 200 colorful medallions, and especially the runners who take the time on Christmas Day and support the Scrooge Scramble year after year!
