The Cornerstone is pleased to announce an exciting new program for pre-kindergarten children [aged three and up] and their parents to help them learn skills that will improve their Kindergarten experience. Getting a good start in Kindergarten is very important for future success in school. Parents whose children have not attended a pre-school program will find this program especially beneficial.

Staff will work with parents to give them tools to support their kids and foster a lifelong love of learning. Each child will get to select a free book to take home the first day. Our second session begins October 21st and ends November12th. All sessions will take place at the Cornerstone Community Center, 3 Prospect Street, Vernon, CT.

Sessions will be limited to 12 students and run for 4 weeks on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:30-11. Children will have approximately 25 minutes to explore quiet activities like building with blocks, playing with playdough or participating in gross motor activities upon arrival. Then they will have a simple snack and story time followed by a variety of art, music, math, and science activities. Children will learn new things as they explore their world. Additionally, they will improve their social skills as they participate in small and large group activities.

Parents stay for the duration of the sessions and will be asked to participate as a helper during some activities.

Infants and siblings under three years of age are welcome if they are preregistered. We will provide age appropriate toys for their needs.

Adults may register children by clicking HERE or call Sharon Redfern, Cornerstone’s Executive Director at 860-858-6362 for more information.
