Nourishing Minds: How Cornerstone Community Kitchen Supports Mental Health Through Nutrition

April is Mental health awareness month. A healthy, well-balanced diet can help us think clearly and feel more alert. It can also improve concentration and attention span. One of the 5 ways to improve mental health is looking after your physical health. That includes diet. The Cornerstone Community kitchen provides balanced, nutritious meals 12 times a week. We offer lunch and dinner Monday through Friday and lunch only on Saturday and Sunday.

It has been proven that diets high in protein can support mental health. A healthy diet provides more vitamins and minerals, healthy fats and fiber from meat, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. Thanks to the food donations from many supporters and the creativity of our cooks, we provide healthy meals to all who eat at Cornerstone Community Kitchen.

Eating meals with others also has many psychological, social and biological benefits. That is

why we encourage camaraderie, community and a family atmosphere in the dining area.

We realize these days it is expensive to eat nutritious meals ; healthy food is expensive and

may be one of the items sacrificed by families and individuals. It is our responsibility to ensure healthy, well balanced meals for all who come into our kitchen…. And we do.
