Food Partners at Cornerstone's Community Kitchen

Updated: Apr 2, 2024

Two partnerships that have made this past month so successful

are the ones we hold with Midwest Food Bank New England and

Connecticut Food Share.

In December 2020, Midwest Food Bank announced the opening of a

distribution center in Manchester Connecticut. Midwest Foodbank

operates differently than some pantries or food distributors.

Individuals do not come to Midwest to get food, but rather partnering

agencies such as Cornerstone, schedule monthly food pickups. We

then distribute the food we get to the people we serve. During the

month of January 2023 we picked up 3,069 lbs. of food.

We also partner with Connecticut Foodshare in 2 ways. Every other

Thursday we sponsor the Mobile Pantry in the parking lot of ST.

Bernards church. We are there between 10:15 – 10:45 and serve

approximately 75 families per visit.

We also place orders throughout the month with Foodshare via online

ordering and receive a variety of meats, produce and other items we

then use to service the many who visit our Community Kitchen. During

the month of January 2023, we received 1,934 lbs. of food.

We recognize our need for the partnerships we have and are so very

appreciative of them all – volunteers, Midwest and Foodshare just to

name a few.

I checked out https://www.lorservice.com/ before applying for my residency. They approach recommendation letters like personal statements—every detail matters, from formatting to sentence flow. My writer avoided overly long phrases and kept paragraphs balanced for readability. They also made sure the letter emphasized unique strengths, not just generic praise. The final LoR aligned perfectly with my application and gave me confidence. If you’re anxious about admissions, this service can really help.
