Cornerstone's Clothing Bank Helps Support Our Young People

Updated: Apr 2

Cornerstone's Clothing Bank was honored to have Mikaylin Foster, Miss Greater Rockville teen and Alexis Hayes, Miss Tolland County teen attend our Prom Boutique this year. They have both worked very hard to win their titles. They put in a lot of time and energy into representing their title by going out into the community to give talks and to help support other young girls where they can.

Mikaylin told us,” I knew about the Prom Dress Event as my older sister wore a dress from it in 2019 at the Miss CT Outstanding Teen Competition. I was excited to be able to participate this year and choose a dress of my own! When I arrived, the women who greeted us were extremely friendly and thorough in explaining how the event worked. It was great having a large variety of dresses to choose from as well as the personalized dressing room sign. All volunteers were very helpful and made me feel comfortable when trying the dresses on. I also loved being able to choose shoes, make-up and jewelry. I highly recommend shopping at Cornerstone for your dress!“

Here is a little bit of information about Mikaylin Foster, Miss Greater Rockville teen in her own words. “My name is Mikaylin Foster, and I am 13 years old. This is my first time competing in the Miss CT Teen Pageant. I wanted to follow in my sister’s footsteps as she was Miss Greater Rockville’s Outstanding Teen in 2019. My hope is to become more involved in the community as I have lived in Vernon all my life. I currently attend The Ohana Academy as a homeschooler. I am an all-star cheerleader and participate in dance classes through Beyond Dance/Vernon Parks and Rec. I am looking forward to getting to know more people within my community and help serve them in any way”.

Alexis Hayes has lived in Vernon all her life. She completed High School at 16 and attends

Manchester Community College. Alexis is a volunteer at Strong Family Farm in Vernon. She is working very hard on representing young girls who don’t have a voice. Alexis Hayes, Miss Tolland County Teen shares, “My name is Alexis Hayes, I am 16 years old, and Miss Tolland County’s Teen. I am honored to be able to represent my community and county in the upcoming Miss Connecticut’s Teen Pageant. I am a dancer, training about 25-30 hours a week. I am a competitive dancer on the Advanced Team with Triple Threat Dance Company in Wolcott, CT. I am a full time company member with NITROGEN The Company in Long Island, NY. I also have done multiple shows, performances, and competitions with Kalligraphy and Kursive based in East Hartford, CT. I have been accepted to be a year round Trainee with the Joffrey Spectrum project at Joffrey Ballet School in Manhattan, NY. I am also an ambassador for the Abby Lee Dance Company. I have trained with many renowned choreographers and instructors including Gianna Martello, Shannon Atkins, Abby Lee Miller, Shannon Mather, Keenan Cooks, and Angelica Stiskin.”

These two girls have put a lot of time and energy into preparing for their pageants. We were happy to help with some gowns and we wish them both well in their future endeavors.
